Safety

Safety backing

We exclusively use safety backing film on our Mirror and Décor glass that meets both the International and South African safety specifications.

New development

We are the first Mirror Door manufacturer in South Africa to have had its Mirror and Décor Glass tested and compliant with:

SANS 1263-1: 2013

Safety and security glazing materials for buildings Part 1: Safety performance of glazing materials under human impact SANS 1263-1 : 2013, Requires Breakage characteristics, Human impact test, Boil test and Weather test (3000hours of exposure to UV) to ensure durability and strength over an extended period of time.

Anti-jump

Classic sliding doors have top and bottom anti-jump devices to ensure that the doors will not derail from the tracks, reducing the risk of a door falling out.

Shock absorber rubber gasket

Hidden inside the side aluminum frames of the standard “Classic” door is a neoprene shock absorbing gasket designed to protect the mirror/glass from breaking if the door is accidentally slammed. This eliminates the unattractive gasket seen in aluminum windows and patio doors.

Technical

Door mechanisms

All Fineline Classic Wardrobe Sliding Doors have top and bottom roller mechanisms:

Bottom mechanisms carry the weight of the doors on roller ball-bearing wheels which have been cycle tested to ANSI/BHMA A156.14-2002, the American National Standard for Sliding Door Hardware, carrying a mass of 50Kg. for 100,000 cycles.

Bottom mechanisms make provision for a 20mm vertical adjustment to take care of out of square openings.

An anti-jump device is an integral part of the wheel assembly.

Top safety roller guide mechanisms have a spring attached to a free moving wheel holder which automatically adjusts to allow for out of level openings thus preventing jamming of the doors. It further acts as a safety mechanism as it will not derail off the top J track. The top safety roller guide is non-weight bearing, ensuring that the ceiling and top header supports do not sag under load.

Tracking system

The New Low Profile Bottom Track has been designed to allow it to be fitted into walk-through thresholds without the risk of tripping and to avoid it recessing into the floor.

The Top J Track allows the Top Safety Roller Guides to slide freely without jamming or derailing out of the track.

Aluminum extrusions

The Aluminum components used to manufacture Fineline doors are extrusions using 6063 alloy which is Anodised or Powder Coated and available in the following colours:

  • White powder coated
  • Black powder coated
  • Natural anodised

Fineline warrants the sliding mechanism for 10 years, which is regarded as the industry’s lifetime standard. The warranty covers parts only for materials that are deemed to be defective in manufacture or failure during normal use over a period of 10 years from the date of invoice-installation.
