Plants that purify your home’s interior

6th-October---Original-Article

If you are regularly troubled by allergies and disrupted sleep patterns, then indoor plants may well be the solution for you.

We all know how indoor plants add a touch of greenery and relaxed appeal in our living spaces. But do we know that they absorb carbon dioxide and keep oxygen circulating? Or that they remove toxins from the room, lower stress and tension levels and help alleviate and prevent illnesses and allergies?

Some of the toxins we commonly find indoors are:
Ammonia: in cleaning products and fertilisers.
     Benzene: in adhesives and detergents.
Formaldehyde: in tissues, serviettes and synthetic fabrics.
Phthalates: in scented products, like air fresheners.Xylene: in nail polish and tobacco smoke.

Certain plants with their relaxing and purifying benefits are ideal for the bedroom as they also boost the quality of our sleep.

According to Feng Shui, the age-old Chinese belief, many plants inspire positive and abundant vibes. Some examples are - place orchids in the bedroom for a calming, tranquil ambience, an aloe plant in the bathroom to promote healing, or bamboo in the living room to encourage good luck within your family.

Here are 4 plants to keep in your bedroom to improve the air quality.

Hen and Chickens (Chlorophytum)

This favoured plant is easy to maintain, requires little water, looks good in hanging baskets or on a shelf with its trailing green and white or cream long spiky leaves. It produces oxygen and purifies the air by absorbing carbon monoxide, xylene and formaldehyde.
