Planning Your Schedule to Include Exercise


Staying healthy can be a challenge, who really has the time for a complete workout and Uber Eats is so convenient. Luckily, there are a few things you can do in your everyday routine to get the exercise you need.

Here are five things you can do to get your weekly five hours of sweat in.

1. Treat exercise like an appointment:
There are a few things in life we don't enjoy doing, dentist appointments, particular meetings with a long-winded client and for some of us exercise. Scheduling half an hour out of your day for a quick exercise fix and treating it like any other important appointment will encourage you to stick to it. It just takes a little self-discipline.

2. Work smart, not hard:
These days we have smartphones, smart food, and smartwatches, but we also have smart exercise. High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, routines are a phenomenal way to get the exercise you need in a shorter period of time, and your body will continue to burn fat hours after you've finished. 3. Make your downtime work for you:
No one should have to give up their downtime, especially if their daily routine is already jam-packed balancing kids and work, but that doesn't mean it can't work for you. There are a multitude of exercises you can do while watching your favourite series or while sitting at your desk to sneak in that extra 15 minutes of weight training here and there. Have a look at a few deskercises here that you can use both at home and in the office:

4. Take the road less travelled:
When your mornings allow, try leaving the house five minutes earlier to park your car in the furthest parking spot and walking to the office. If you don't work on the ground floor of an office building, enjoying a brisk walk up the stairs instead of the elevator and take the stairs in the shopping mall as well. They may not be intensive workouts but these short exercise sessions can add up over time.

5. Do what makes you smile:
Going for a 5km run when you hate running will take the joy out of your workout, and doing 30 minutes of yoga when you're really a Duracell Bunny can be frankly frustrating. Find exercises and routines you enjoy and be ready to experiment with different styles and types of workouts. No one said you HAD to do exercise you don't enjoy, so why not do workouts you love.
