How to Organise Your Wardrobe, Properly

Whatever season, whichever day, at some point or another, we all look into our wardrobes and feel completely overwhelmed by the sheer chaos, the madness that has become our wardrobe. It may not hit you immediately, but when you can't find that racing red jersey, the button shirt for your special cuff-links, or the left kitten heel that is perfect for that blue cocktail dress, you realise it's time to organise.

You have probably organised your wardrobe, once or twice before, maybe you organise it every six months, but somehow it always seems to revert back to a mess. Well, here are eight quick steps to organise your wardrobe properly.

1. Use the Discardian's wardrobe trick:
This nifty trick will help you find the clothes you don't wear and are just taking up space. Simply hang all your clothes with the hangers facing the wrong way, when you use those clothes and re-hang them, hang them with the hanger facing the right way round. Soon you'll be able to see which clothes you use and which you can donate to make more room in your wardrobe.

2. Where to store:
Knowing where to store items in your wardrobe is important to having an organised wardrobe. Store items you use the most at eye level, items you use less often below, and items you hardly use above.

3. Hangers:
Use the same colour and type of hangers in your wardrobe for a uniform and organised look.

4. Divide and conquer:
You can buy or make shelf dividers to keep separate items together and let them share a shelf if space is limited.

5. Add some light:
Simply lighting can help make your wardrobe more welcoming and make it easier to find whatever you're looking for.

6. Do away with swinging doors:
Wardrobe doors which swing open tend to use up a lot of unnecessary floor space. Investing in some sliding wardrobe doors will help you access all the space you need and add a stylish touch.

7. Extra space:
Make more room in your wardrobe by storing out-of-season clothes where they won't be in the way, good places include under your bed or higher up in your wardrobe.

8. Colour Code:
Colour coding your wardrobe will make it easier for you to find the piece of clothing you are looking for.

Now let's get moving and create a fresh new space for you to enjoy.
