Protecting Your Skin

Protect your skin as this is one of the first places where ageing becomes visible. Use gentle anti-ageing skin products. Wear sun-screen at all times and keep out of the harsh mid-day sun especially between 11am and 2pm. Keep yourself and your skin hydrated by drinking lots of water.

Doing Exercise

It is important to get regular exercise as this will improve your general well-being, lower stress levels and blood pressure and help to prevent heart problems. Stretching exercises - like yoga and pilates - help with ageing mobility. Some other examples of light exercise are : walking, swimming, and dancing.

Watching Your Diet

It is preferable to avoid processed foods and refined sugars. Rather eat as much fresh food as possible. Here are some recommendations:

  • Fruits and vegetables - fresh is best with frozen on occasion.
  • Lean protein - ostrich, chicken breast, fish and beans
  • Whole-grain cereals - breads, rice, or pasta
  • Low-fat or fat-free dairy products - milk, yoghurt or cheese.
  • Healthy fats

Reduce your salt intake and drink lots of water - 1.5 litres per day is ideal.

Quit smoking and restrict the amount of alcohol you imbibe.
